ACONET runs a campaign dubbed “PAD A GIRL TO END PERIOD POVERTY, SHAME AND STIGMA “this is an initiative that targets school girls. Despite the provision of Free Basic Education, many girls continue to miss out on education due to absenteeism that is related to reproductive health issues as they are forced to stay away from school since they are not facilitated to manage their menstruation due to poverty levels. we donate sanitary pads to school girls after every three months and also set up pad banks in these school for emergency cases.
The provision of sanitary pads not only enhances personal hygiene but also promotes dignity and self-esteem.
